Language of Spirt Signs & Synchronicities

I started to understand the concept of how the Universe communicates with us through signs and synchronicities several years ago when I read Laura Lynne Jackson's book Signs.

After experimenting myself and receiving some incredible signs there is no doubt in my mind that this is true.

Since my dad’s passing in July of 2023, I’ve come to understand in a whole new way how our loved ones communicate with us through signs. My dad taught me so many lessons in life and now continues to help me learn and guides me in the afterlife.

A few weeks before he died, we had a conversation about how I thought we might still be able to communicate after he passed and that he could send me signs. Being the stubborn German man he was, his response was, “Well, I don’t think I’ll be able to do that.”

My response was, “Well, I guess we will find out.”

I smile thinking back to that conversation since he’s proven to be a very powerful spirit communicator right since the day he passed, much like he was a great storyteller in life.

He has sent so many subtle and sometimes jaw-dropping signs that it is undeniable to me that we are still connected.

Over time, I've come to understand that his primary signs for me are hearts, the word home (either showing me the word or often in song lyrics), blue jays, the word wanderlust (the name of all the boats he owned) and DADA or DADJ or PAPA on license plates.

I have so many stories of the different ways these signs have come through and a folder on my phone full of photos. In this post I want to share a story that highlights several of the ways in which we can receive signs.

The one-year anniversary of my dad's passing was very difficult for me. While I knew it would feel sad, I expected it to feel like many of the other “firsts” we have gone through like the first birthday or Father’s Day without him. However, each of those days have happy memories associated with them to reminisce about. This day was only filled with the sadness of having to say goodbye to him and it hit me differently.

On July 2nd, the anniversary of his passing, I was out for a walk and asked him to send me a blue jay feather as I felt like I really needed a sign from him to comfort me in the grief I was feeling. The one and only time I have ever found a blue jay feather was on the day of his visitation.

A few minutes into my walk along a trail in my neighbourhood I heard a rustling in the bushes. I looked beside me and there was a blue jay in the bush about two feet from the path that started squawking away looking directly at me.

I just stood there looking at it and a lady approached on the path and stopped to watch this very animated bird with me. It then flew up into a branch right above our heads and stayed there squawking for a few minutes.

In learning more about mediumship, I’ve learned that our loved ones often use birds as a sign because it’s easy for them to blend their energy with birds and almost remote control them. Anyone we knew my dad would know how excited he would be to remote control a bird!

I smiled and thanked him for the sign.

A few days later I was out walking and this time I said out loud to my dad, “Okay, it’s amazing that you sent a blue jay, but I had asked specifically for a blue jay feather. It would be so amazing if you could send me one today.”

A few minutes after making my request, I looked down and in the middle of the path was a single grey feather. Not bad I thought to myself, but not a blue jay feather. As I reached down to pick it up, the sunlight caught the bright blue edge of the feather.

Just as I realized it was in fact a blue jay feather, the lyrics of a song playing in my air pods caught my attention. I had been listening to a randomized playlist and at that moment a song called “Coastline” started playing with the opening lyrics…

“I’m leaving home for the coastline; Some place under the sun; I feel my heart for the first time; ‘Cause now I’m moving on, yeah I’m moving on.”

I stood there listening to the song with tears streaming down my face because of the blue jay feather, the home and heart references and how the lyrics felt like they could have been written by my dad with all the lines about sunsets and the coast that he loved so much when my parents spent a few winter vacations in Florida. The song describes what would sound like my dad’s idea of heaven.

I clicked on the song to see who the artist was, and the last mind-blowing detail was revealed. The song is by Hollow Coves and it’s on their album called…Wanderlust.

A quadruple whammy sign that came through several means that I couldn’t deny when he knew I needed it.

A physical blue jay feather in my hand.

The words Home and Heart in the lyrics of the song.

The name of the album Wanderlust.

I am so grateful to be able communicate with my dad in this way. While I wish more than anything that he could still be here with us in the physical world, I know with every fibre of my being that he is still here, just in a different form.

One thing I've learned is that signs don't always come in the way that we think they will, but if we are open aware, we can start to understand all the different ways we can receive signs.

There are more universal signs like seeing cardinals or finding coins.

There are also more subtle signs that relate specifically to your loved one that only you will understand, like my dad using the word Wanderlust knowing I'll understand the connection to his life.

Our loved ones can also communicate through electronics, either by messing with them to play with us or by using social media posts to communicate messages.

The ways they communicate are wild and wonderous. In my experience, the more you become aware and acknowledge them, the more often you will experience them.
